If you are actually and seriously thinking of bringing your car to India (from USA), it is one of the worst cockamamie idea. Apart from the President of USA, no one brings a car from USA to India.
First the shipping cost to and fro will be ridiculous. Secondly, you will have to insure the car for the journey back and forth. Then you will have to pay customs duty which is around 125% of CIF value (cost + insurance + freight). You may claim this duty back when you return ship the car and that will take its own sweet time. Fourth, the car cannot be insured in India or at least I doubt whether anyone will cover it in India. Fifth, it cannot be registered to be driven in India - not without insurance and certainly not a left hand drive car. I hope you know that in India, vehicles drive on the left side and hence driver controls are on the right side.
