Founded in 1950 in Takko, Aomori Prefecture, the company gradually became a cornerstone of the community, eventually opening additional sales offices starting in 1985. Nationwide sales began in 1996, with the goal of bringing the delicious flavor of Japan's number one garlic to more and more people. Today, our garlic is used at some of Japan's best-known hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants. Production and sale of our flagship product, Junkuro Ninniku Black Garlic, began in 2006. Grown only with organic fertilizers and made with a unique manufacturing process utilizing far-infrared radiation to create a safe, reliable product with no additives, colorings or preservatives, our Black Garlic has become popular for its delicious flavor, even among those who normally do not eat garlic, gaining recognition as a high-quality black garlic in 2008 with a Monde Selection Gold Award in its first-ever submission. In 2015, it was awarded a Grand Gold Award (having received gold awards for eight consecutive years). Also in 2015, Junkuro Ninniku Black Garlic received world's first-ever Three-Star Gold Award from the International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi), which judges and ranks the taste and quality of food products.
