Since our establishment in the first year of the Bunsei era (1818), Irokuen Tea has been Kyoto's traditional tea shop for 196 years. Guided by our company's mission statement to provide a "once in a lifetime experience,"we strive daily for "tradition and innovation,"or in other words, to enrich our customers' lives through new tea products and services created with our traditional know-how.
When it comes to our products, although we focus on high quality and discerning selection rather than mass produced items, our merchandise covers a wide price range. As for our mountain-grown teas, we do not limit ourselves to Uji tea;we also carry the best tea leaves from places like Chiran (Kagoshima Prefecture) and Yame (Fukuoka Prefecture.)
One of our company's strengths lies in the combination of our traditional tea blending techniques and our strong connections with tea farmers, wholesalers, and the regions where the tea is grown, which together enhance the taste (quality) of the tea. We also keep track of regional licenses and agricultural records in order to ensure the tea is safe. Another of our strengths is the "tradition and innovation"which goes into our product development. Using our traditional knowledge to develop products for new sensations and lifestyles is our forte.
Recently, through the development and sale of products appealing to new senses, such as our premium green tea sweets, we are creating a complete tea experience.
